Oxytocin 5ED - 1ml №5

Oxytocin is an injectable solution containing 5 IU/ml of oxytocin. The product is available in 1 ml ampoules, with 5 pieces per package. Oxytocin is a hormonal preparation, a synthetic analog of the polypeptide hormone of the posterior pituitary lobe. It increases the tone and enhances contractions of the smooth muscles of the uterus. In small doses, oxytocin increases the frequency and amplitude of uterine contractions, and in large doses or with repeated administration, it promotes an increase in uterine tone, more frequent and stronger contractions, up to tetanic contractions. The drug also contracts myoepithelial cells around the alveoli of the mammary gland, stimulating the flow of milk into large ducts or sinuses, which enhances milk ejection. Oxytocin is practically devoid of vasoconstrictor and antidiuretic action (only in high doses) and does not cause contraction of bladder and intestinal muscles. How to take: The effect occurs 1-2 minutes after intramuscular (IM) administration and lasts 20-30 minutes. When administered intravenously (IV), the effect appears after 0.5-1 minute.
