Use: Almagel is an antacid that is a balanced combination of algeldrate (aluminum hydroxide) and magnesium hydroxide. It neutralizes free hydrochloric acid in the stomach, reduces pepsin activity, which leads to a decrease in the digestive activity of gastric juice. The drug has an enveloping, adsorbing effect and protects the gastric mucosa by stimulating prostaglandin synthesis (cytoprotective action). Contraindications: - Hypersensitivity to the active substances and excipients of the drug. - Severe renal insufficiency (due to the risk of hypermagnesemia and aluminum intoxication). - Alzheimer's disease. - Hypophosphatemia. - Pregnancy. - Children under 10 years of age. - Congenital fructose intolerance (the drug contains sorbitol). - Severe constipation. - Stomach pain of unknown origin and suspicion of acute appendicitis. - Presence of ulcerative colitis, diverticulosis, colostomy or ileostomy (increased risk of water-electrolyte imbalance). - Chronic diarrhea. - Acute hemorrhoids. - Changes in the acid-base balance in the body, as well as the presence of metabolic alkalosis. - Liver cirrhosis. - Severe heart failure. - Toxemia of pregnancy. - Alcoholism (the drug contains 98.1 mg of ethanol per 5 ml dose). Storage: The drug should be stored out of reach of children, protected from light, at a temperature not exceeding 25degreeC. Do not freeze. The shelf life of the drug is 2 years.
