Use: Metipred is used in conditions requiring systemic or local glucocorticoid therapy, especially in autoimmune diseases. These include: - Rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatic diseases. - Severe, disabling allergic conditions (bronchial asthma, dermatitis, rhinitis, hypersensitivity reactions to drugs). - Inflammatory joint diseases (various arthritides, spondyloarthritis). - Acute rheumatism, bronchial asthma, asthmatic status. How to take: The initial dose of Metipred depends on the disease. The oral starting dose for adults is usually 8 to 96 mg per day. The dose should be reduced upon achieving a positive clinical response. The oral maintenance dose for adults is usually 4-12 mg per day, once in the morning. Lower doses are recommended for children. For long-term treatment, taking the drug once every other morning may be adequate. 4 mg of methylprednisolone is equivalent to 5 mg of prednisolone. To minimize side effects, the full daily dose of Metipred is recommended to be taken in the morning. Patients with hypothyroidism or severe liver disease should have their Metipred dose reduced. In elderly patients, the drug should be prescribed with caution due to an increased risk of side effects (peptic ulcer, osteoporosis, skin ulceration). Contraindications: - Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. - Systemic fungal infections, tuberculosis, other acute and chronic bacterial or viral infections (without proper chemotherapeutic protection). - Intrathecal administration of the drug, concomitant use of live and attenuated vaccines with immunosuppressive doses, breastfeeding period. - For short-term use for vital indications, the only contraindication is hypersensitivity to methylprednisolone. - The drug should be prescribed with caution in gastrointestinal diseases (gastric and duodenal ulcers, esophagitis, gastritis, recently created intestinal anastomosis).
