Use: Zometa is used for osteolytic, osteoblastic, and mixed bone metastases of solid tumors and osteolytic lesions in multiple myeloma as part of combination therapy. It is also used for hypercalcemia caused by malignant tumors. In patients with breast cancer, prostate cancer, and other solid tumors with metastatic bone involvement, Zometa prevents the development of pathological fractures, spinal cord compression, reduces the need for radiation therapy and surgical interventions, and also reduces tumor-induced hypercalcemia. How to take: Zometa 4 mg/100 ml solution for infusion is a ready-to-use dosage form and does not require further dilution. The drug should be administered intravenously by drip for at least 15 minutes. The recommended dose is 4 mg every 3-4 weeks. Additionally, calcium should be taken orally at a dose of 500 mg per day and vitamin D at a dose of 400 IU per day. For hypercalcemia (serum calcium level, albumin-corrected, ≥ 12 mg/dL or 3 mmol/L), the recommended single dose of the drug is 4 mg. Adequate patient hydration must be ensured before or during the infusion. After starting therapy, serum creatinine concentration should be determined before administering each subsequent dose of the drug. If renal impairment is detected, the next administration of Zometa should be postponed. Contraindications: - Severe disorders of mineral metabolism, including hypocalcemia. - Severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance <35 ml/min or less than 30 ml/min). - Pregnancy. - Breastfeeding period. - Age under 18 years (efficacy and safety have not been established). - Hypersensitivity to zoledronic acid, other bisphosphonates, or any other components included in the preparation.
