The drug is also indicated for the prevention of folic acid deficiency associated with unbalanced or inadequate nutrition. How to take For treatment, adults are prescribed 5 mg per day; children - in smaller doses depending on age. The course of treatment usually lasts 20-30 days. For therapeutic purposes, the drug is taken orally at 5 mg once a day. For megaloblastic anemia, it is recommended to take 5 mg of folic acid daily for 4 months. For the prevention of folic acid deficiency, the dosage is 20-50 mcg/day. During pregnancy, 400 mcg/day is recommended, and during lactation - 300 mcg/day.
