Use: Egolanza is used for the treatment of schizophrenia, including the maintenance of achieved clinical effect during long-term therapy in patients who have responded to initial therapy. It is also used for the treatment of moderate to severe manic episodes and for the prevention of recurrence in patients with bipolar disorder who have shown a positive response to olanzapine treatment for mania. How to take: The recommended starting dose of olanzapine for the treatment of schizophrenia is 10 mg once daily. For manic episodes, as monotherapy, the recommended starting dose is 15 mg or 10 mg/day, and in combination with lithium or valproate, it is 10 mg/day. For the prevention of recurrence in patients with bipolar disorder, the recommended starting dose is 10 mg/day. The daily dose is determined based on the clinical status, ranging from 5 to 20 mg/day. Increases in the recommended starting dose should be made at intervals of no less than 24 hours and only after clinical examination. Olanzapine can be taken independently of food, as food intake does not affect drug absorption. Discontinuation of the drug should be done gradually. Contraindications: Egolanza is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to the active substance (olanzapine) or any of the excipients of the drug. It is also contraindicated in cases of known risk of angle-closure glaucoma. It should be used with caution in patients with clinical manifestations of prostatic hyperplasia, paralytic ileus, and similar conditions.
