Use Egolanza (olanzapine) is indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia. The drug is effective in maintaining the achieved clinical effect in long-term therapy in patients with schizophrenia who have responded to initial treatment. Egolanza is also used to treat moderate to severe manic episodes and to prevent relapses in patients with bipolar disorder who have responded to treatment for a manic episode. How to take Egolanza is taken orally, regardless of food intake, once a day. The recommended initial dose for adults with schizophrenia is 10 mg/day. For acute mania associated with bipolar disorder, the initial dose for adults is 15 mg/day (once) as monotherapy or 10 mg/day (once) in combination with lithium or valproic acid (maintenance therapy at the same dose). For the prevention of recurrence of bipolar disorder, the recommended initial dose is 10 mg per day. Patients previously treated with olanzapine for a manic episode should continue treatment at the same dose for relapse prevention. The daily dose can be adjusted from 5 to 20 mg, taking into account the patient's clinical condition. Dose adjustments above the recommended initial dose should be made after careful clinical analysis, typically with intervals of at least 24 hours. The maximum daily dose of olanzapine is 20 mg. When discontinuing the drug, therapy should be gradually tapered. Contraindications - Risk of developing angle-closure glaucoma. - Children and adolescents under 18 years of age (due to insufficient clinical data). - Lactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption (the drug contains lactose). - Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
