Use: Mannitol is used in the following conditions: - Cerebral edema, intracranial hypertension (in renal and/or heart failure). - Acute renal failure (in the oliguric phase) with preserved renal filtration capacity. - Acute attack of glaucoma, intraocular hypertension. - Poisoning with barbiturates, salicylates, lithium, bromides (for forced diuresis). - Operations with extracorporeal circulation (for the prevention of renal ischemia and hemolysis). - Prevention of hemolysis during transfusion of incompatible blood. How to take (Dosage regimen): Mannitol is administered intravenously (slowly bolus or drip). - The prophylactic dose is 0.5 g/kg body weight. - The therapeutic dose is 1-1.5 g/kg body weight. - The daily dose should not exceed 140-180 g. - For operations with extracorporeal circulation, 20-40 g are administered immediately before the start of perfusion. - Patients with oliguria should first receive a trial dose (200 mg/kg) intravenously by drip over 3-5 minutes. If, within 2-3 hours, no increase in diuresis rate to 30-50 ml/h is observed, further administration of the drug should be abandoned. Contraindications: - Hypersensitivity to mannitol. - Anuria due to acute renal tubular necrosis. - Left ventricular heart failure (especially accompanied by pulmonary edema). - Chronic heart failure. - Hemorrhagic stroke. - Subarachnoid hemorrhage (except for bleeding during trepanation). - Severe dehydration. - Hyponatremia, hypochloremia, hypokalemia. Storage: Store at a temperature not exceeding 25degreeC in a place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
