Use Diphenhydramine is an H1-histamine receptor blocker. It has antiallergic activity, local anesthetic, antispasmodic, and moderate ganglioblocking effects. The drug reduces or prevents histamine-induced smooth muscle spasms, increased capillary permeability, tissue swelling, itching, and hyperemia. Diphenhydramine also has antiemetic, sedative, and hypnotic effects. How to take Diphenhydramine is administered intravenously or intramuscularly. - For adults and children over 14 years: 1-5 ml of a 1% solution (10-50 mg) 1-3 times a day. The maximum daily dose is 200 mg. - For children: - From 7 months to 12 months: 0.3-0.5 ml (3-5 mg) as needed every 6-8 hours. - From 1 year to 3 years: 0.5-1 ml (5-10 mg) as needed every 6-8 hours. - From 4 to 6 years: 1-1.5 ml (10-15 mg) as needed every 6-8 hours. - From 7 to 14 years: 1.5-3 ml (15-30 mg) as needed every 6-8 hours. Contraindications - Hypersensitivity to diphenhydramine or other antihistamines with a similar chemical structure. - Lactation period (breastfeeding). - Angle-closure glaucoma. - Benign prostatic hyperplasia. - Stenosing peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum. - Bladder neck stenosis. - Bronchial asthma. - Epilepsy. - Children under 7 months of age.
