Use Mezim forte compensates for exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. The enzymes included in pancreatin (lipase, amylase, and protease) facilitate the digestion of fats, carbohydrates, and proteins, promoting their more complete absorption in the small intestine. Indications for use are: - exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (e.g., in chronic pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis); - chronic inflammatory-dystrophic diseases of the stomach, intestines, liver, gallbladder, as well as conditions after resection or radiation of these organs, accompanied by impaired food digestion, flatulence, diarrhea (as part of combination therapy). The drug is also used to improve food digestion in patients with normal gastrointestinal function in cases of dietary errors and for preparation for X-ray and ultrasound examination of the abdominal organs. How to take Mezim forte is taken orally, before meals, 1-2 tablets, without chewing, and washed down with plenty of liquid (preferably alkaline, for example, water or fruit juices). If necessary, during meals, you can take another 1-4 tablets. It is not recommended to exceed the daily dose of enzymes, which is 15000-20000 units of lipase/kg of body weight, especially in patients with cystic fibrosis. In children, the drug is used as directed by a doctor. The duration of treatment can vary from several days (for indigestion due to dietary errors) to several months or even years (if constant replacement therapy is required). Contraindications Mezim forte is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to its components, acute pancreatitis, and exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis.
