Use Scopril is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), heart failure, and after a recent heart attack (myocardial infarction), as well as to treat kidney diseases caused by type II diabetes in people with high blood pressure. Scopril helps to widen blood vessels, which leads to a reduction in high blood pressure and helps the heart pump blood throughout the body. - How to take The tablet should be swallowed with a glass of water. It is recommended to take the tablets at the same time each day, regardless of food intake. Treatment with the drug should be continued until the doctor allows it to be stopped. - After a heart attack: The recommended starting dose is 5 mg within 24 hours after a heart attack and 5 mg every other day. The usual dose for long-term use is 10 mg once daily. - For the therapy of kidney diseases caused by diabetes: The recommended dose is 10 mg or 20 mg once daily. - For elderly patients, those with kidney problems, or those taking diuretics, the doctor may prescribe lower doses. - Contraindications Do not take Scopril in the following cases: - If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to lisinopril or to some components of the drug. - If you have previously had allergic reactions (e.g., swelling of the arms, legs, ankles, face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty swallowing or breathing - angioedema) while taking ACE inhibitors. - If family members have had severe allergic reactions (angioedema) to ACE inhibitors. - If you have blood vessel problems (collagenosis of blood vessels). - If taken concomitantly with aliskiren. - If you have recently had diarrhea or vomiting. - If your doctor has recommended controlling salt intake. - If you have high cholesterol levels and are undergoing treatment called ''LDL apheresis''. - Pregnancy or planning a pregnancy.
