Contraindications Hypersensitivity to valsartan, hydrochlorothiazide, or other sulfonamide derivatives, as well as to any other components of the drug. Contraindications also include severe liver dysfunction (Child-Pugh score > 9), biliary cirrhosis, cholestasis, severe renal impairment (GFR < 30 ml/min/1.73 m^2), anuria, refractory hypokalemia, hyponatremia, hypercalcemia, symptomatic hyperuricemia. The drug is contraindicated for concomitant use with aliskiren or aliskiren-containing drugs in patients with diabetes mellitus and/or moderate to severe renal impairment (GFR less than 60 ml/min/1.73 m^2), as well as during pregnancy, planning pregnancy, and lactation. Not recommended for use in children under 18 years of age.
